Impact starts with our members — people like you who
see a world where people unite and take action to
create lasting change — across the globe, in our
communities, and in ourselves.
At club meetings in communities across the globe, our people of action come together to strengthen their connections to friends and neighbors and their commitment to improving lives.
Who can join?
We’re looking for people who want to give back to our community and beyond. Although Rotary doors are open to all, most members are retired from or are established on a career path in our community. There is no age requirement to join a Rotary Club, if you have the desire to give back, we have a place for you.
Rotary clubs also welcome Rotaractors, Rotary Peace Fellows, and other members of the family of Rotary who qualify for membership.
How can I become a member?
Anyone is welcomed to attend weekly meetings; it is actually the best way to get to know us and for us to get to know you! But clubs accept new members by invitation. Once you decide we are the right club for you, you will be assigned a Rotary mentor who will ask you a few questions about yourself and your interests. Your mentor will walk you through the process to become a new member of our club.
A Few Myth Busters
  • Myth: You have to be old; Fact: Nope! Rotary can start in our schools with Interact and Rotaract; our club welcomes all ages
  • Myth: It' a MENS ONLY club; Fact: Nope! Women were officially welcomed into Rotary in 1989 and today make up nearly one quarter of all Rotarians worldwide, many clubs exceed that percentage
  • Myth: You gotta be rich; Fact: Nope! Rotary is actually very affordable with low annual dues and other financial participation at whatever level is comfortable for you.
  • Myth:  You have to learn a secret handshake; Fact: Nope! Where did that ever get started? We shake hands the regular way and meet lots of new friends in the process
  • MythWe have lots of Parties; Fact: Well, maybe this one is true! We do like to have a good time with our friends
What are the benefits?
Becoming a Rotary member connects you with a diverse group of professionals who share your drive to give back. Through regular meetings and events, you’ll:
  • Discuss your community’s needs and develop creative ways to meet them
  • Connect with other leaders who are changing the world
  • Expand your leadership and professional skills
  • Catch up with good friends and meet new ones
Other benefits of membership include:
Rotary Global Rewards, our member benefits program, which offers discounts on products and services. It’s Rotary’s way of helping our members spend less so they can do more.
The Rotary International Convention is our biggest event of the year. Rotary members from more than 130 countries meet at the convention each year to celebrate our successes and make plans for the future.
Rotary Fellowships give members the chance to join a group of people who share similar interests, hobbies, or vocations. Some groups use their fellowship to make a positive difference.
Rotarian Action Groups unite Rotary members, family members, program participants and alumni who share their expertise in particular fields by collaborating with clubs and districts on projects.

Rotaract and Interact clubs
If you’re between the ages of 12 and 18, you may be interested in joining our Interact club, a service club for youth. We have an Interact Club at both Port Townsend High School and Chimacum High School. If you’re a young professional, at least 18 years old, you may be interested in joining a Rotaract club. Like Rotary clubs, Rotaract and Interact clubs give their members the chance to make friends, develop leadership skills, and create positive change.
